Football Holds Final Workout Before First Scrimmage Of Spring

Feb. 25, 2009

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Samford football team practiced for about two hours in full pads Wednesday afternoon at Seibert Stadium. The practice was the seventh of 15 workouts the team will go through during the spring.

Samford head coach Pat Sullivan said the players have worked hard, they just need to be more consistent.

"We worked on some live goal-line situations," Sullivan said. "We worked on red-zone again today. We had some good things and some bad things.

"I thought, overall, it was a good practice," Sullivan said. "We're just not consistent yet, which is what we are striving for. But, I think our effort has been good."

The Bulldogs will take Thursday and Friday off from practice before holding their first full scrimmage Saturday morning.

"We are going to try to give them a couple of days of rest," Sullivan said. "Then we want to have a good scrimmage on Saturday."

Saturday's scrimmage is scheduled to start at 10 a.m. at Seibert Stadium. Following the scrimmage, there will be a barbecue for the team and the families of the players and coaches in the Samford cafeteria.
