LOUISVILLE, Ky. ---- Four Bulldogs will represent the Samford University track and field team this Friday and Saturday, May 29-30, in the NCAA Mideast Track and Field Regionial. The two-day event is hosted by the University of Louisville and will be held at Cardinal Park.
Hillary Neal will be running in the 3000-meter steeplechase this weekend. The sophomore qualified for the event at the Ole Miss Invitational on April 12 in her first attempt and win of the event. She also qualified for the 800 meters (Austin Peay, April 4) and the 1500 meters (Auburn Invitational, April 18) but will not compete in either even at the Regional. Neal finished first in all but one of her races this outdoor season and broke her own school record in the 1500 meters.
Freshman distance runner Andrea Seccafien will compete in the women's 5000 meter run this weekend. She qualified for the Regional when she won the event at the Southern Conference Outdoor Championship a month ago.
Junior distance runner Blaise Carie will run in the men's 3000 meter steeplechase. Carie qualifed for the event at the conference championships while winning the championship.
Patrick Wells qualified for the Regional over a month ago at the Auburn Invitational. The junior vaulter notched a school record of 16'06.75" in the men's pole vault to earn second place in the event. He also vaulted the same regional qualifying mark when he won the Southern Conference Championship on April 25. Wells has placed first in five of eight pole vault competition he has competed in this outdoor season.
