Women's Basketball To Host Elon Monday Evening

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Samford women's basketball team will play host to the Elon Phoenix in a Southern Conference contest Monday evening at 7 p.m. at the Pete Hanna Center.

Samford enters the game with a record of 16-6 overall and 10-3 in Southern Conference play. The Bulldogs are currently tied for second in the SoCon standings with College of Charleston, just one game behind first-place Chattanooga. Samford is coming off a 54-51 win over UNC Greensboro on Saturday.

Samford junior guard Emily London leads the team in scoring (16.0 ppg.), field goal percentage (.512), three-point field goal percentage (.523) and free-throw percentage (.904). London's three-point field goal percentage ranks first in the SoCon and second in the nation, while her scoring average is third in the conference.

Junior forward Savannah Hill leads the team in rebounding (5.2 rpg.) and assists (3.4 apg.), while ranking second in scoring (12.3 ppg.). Senior guard Monica Maxwell stands in second on the squad in rebounding (4.7 rpg.) and third in scoring (9.5 ppg.).

Elon is currently 8-14 overall and 3-10 in league play. The Phoenix is coming off an 83-64 loss at Chattanooga on Saturday.

Elon is led by Ali Ford, averaging 16.1 points per game, ranking second in the SoCon. Urysla Cotton leads the Phoenix in rebounding, pulling down 7.7 boards per contest.

Samford and Elon are meeting for the fourth time, with Samford holding a 3-0 advantage in the series. Earlier this season, Samford claimed a 72-63 win at Elon's Alumni Gym.

Entering Monday's game, Samford leads the Southern Conference in several statistical categories. The Bulldogs currently lead the league in scoring margin (+7.2 ppg.), free throw percentage (.764), three-point field goal percentage (.383), rebounding defense (32.7 rpg.), assist/turnover ratio (0.9) and three-pointers made per game (8.4 pg.).

In its 12-plus seasons, Samford has an all-time record of 91-77 in home games. Now in its third season in the Pete Hanna Center, the Bulldogs are 30-6 in their new home. In 10 seasons in Seibert Hall, Samford had a record of 61-71 in that facility. So far this season, Samford is 7-1 in the Pete Hanna Center.
