The Samford University women's golf team rallied for an 11th-place finish at the 2010 LPGA International Xavier Invitational Sunday as the Bulldogs carded a third-round score of 309 at the prestigious LPGA International Golf Course.
Samford was paced by true freshman Alex Jasper, who completed the weekend with a three-day total of 233 (81-78-74). As a team, the Bulldogs placed 11th in the talent-laden competition, finishing just behind Mercer with a total team score of 952 (329-314-309).
Kayla Turner, Samford's talented sophomore from Clarksville, Tenn., placed second on the squad with a 54-hole total of 236 (80-81-75). She was followed in the Bulldogs' final individual standings by Anna Heim (83-76-83=242), Sarah Butts (86-80-77=243) and Savannah Schubert (85-80-89=254).
The Samford University women's golf team will next be in action Oct. 25-26 as the Bulldogs are slated to compete in the highly-competitive Memphis Tiger Invite to be held at the Ridgeway Country Club in Germantown, Tenn.
