BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -
After taking Wednesday off due to inclement weather, the Samford football team returned to spring practice Thursday afternoon with a two-hour workout in shorts and helmets at Seibert Stadium.
The practice was the team's second spring practice and the last workout before the players leave for Spring Break. Samford head coach Pat Sullivan said, however, he liked the focus his team showed during the practice.
"I thought our guys were focused," Sullivan said. "We were in shorts and it was a learning day, but I thought it was much better than when we started on Tuesday. The enthusiasm of the players was good. Now, we'll go on Spring Break and then we will come back and get ready to put the pads on."
Sullivan said he has seen progress from several of the team's younger players. He pointed out a few players who caught his eye during Thursday's practice.
"Every day, I see Chris Cephus make a play," Sullivan said. "A few of our young linebackers, Durell Hill, Darion Sutton and Keith Shoulders, have looked really good."
The Bulldogs will return to practice on March 23, which will be the team's first day in full pads. The practice is scheduled to begin at 4:15 p.m. at Seibert Stadium.
The team's first scrimmage of the spring is scheduled for March 27 at 10 a.m. Samford's final spring scrimmage will be April 15 at 4 p.m. at Seibert Stadium.
