BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -
The Samford University men's tennis team will conclude its five-match homestand Wednesday at 2 p.m. (CDT) as the Bulldogs welcome the Chattanooga Mocs to the Samford Tennis Center for a late-season Southern Conference showdown.
Samford (10-8, 2-4 SoCon) heads into the contest boasting a two-match conference winning streak. Chattanooga (3-13, 1-7 SoCon) enters Wednesday's match with aspirations of bouncing back from a 5-2 conference loss against Appalachian State on Saturday. The Mocs' defeat occurred just one day after they snapped their 17-match SoCon losing streak Friday against The Citadel, 5-2.
Prior to defeating The Citadel on Friday, Chattanooga's previous conference win occurred April 6, 2008, against Georgia Southern, 4-3.
Abalos has been one of the Bulldogs' top singles player this season and owns an 11-6 dual-match record. Samford's native of Woodstock, Ga., has won three-consecutive singles contests and is 4-1 when playing at the No. 4 position.
Following Wednesday's SoCon matchup against Chattanooga, the Samford University men's tennis team will next be in action Saturday at 1 p.m. (CDT) as the Bulldogs begin a two-match road trip against the Davidson Wildcats in Davidson, N.C.
