BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -
The Samford football team practiced for about two hours in shells Wednesday afternoon at Seibert Stadium. The Bulldogs are preparing for Saturday's Southern Conference game at 21st-ranked Elon.
Samford continued working on its game plan for the Phoenix. Samford head coach Pat Sullivan said the Bulldogs put in a good day of work on Wednesday.
"I thought we had a good practice today," Sullivan said. "They were focused. They were reacting and not thinking as much, so I thought today was a good practice."
Sullivan said he expects Saturday's game to be a physical contest. He added that he knows both teams will have plenty of motivation.
"We know we are going to get Elon's best shot," Sullivan said. "They're backs are against the wall, just like ours. When we went up there the last time (in 2008), it may have been the most physical game we've had and I don't expect anything different."
The Bulldogs will practice again Thursday. The practice is scheduled to start at 5 p.m. at Seibert Stadium. The Bulldogs will leave campus for Elon, N.C., Friday morning at 8:30 a.m.
Saturday's game at Elon is scheduled for a 12:30 p.m. (CT) start from Elon's Rhodes Stadium. The game can be heard locally on WVSU-FM 91.1, or worldwide on the internet at www.samford.edu/wvsu.
