Crimson Classic Women's 5k Results 
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. ---- The Samford cross country team was on the campus of the University of Alabama Saturday, competing in the Alabama Crimson Classic. The men started the day off with a 15th-place finish in the 8k and the women followed placing sixth in the 5k.
Lauren D'Alessio, who leads the SoCon in the 5,000 meters, finished second overall in Saturday's race in 17:17.34. Holly Benson improved her season-best time today, crossing the line 26th in 18:21.01. Frances Bernard was next across the line (55th, 19:02.65), finishing with a large pack around the 19-minute mark. Lillie Jackson (65th, 19:12.89), Chelsea Treadway (74th, 19:23.81) and Deanna Zidar (90th, 19:40.21) finished shortly after, all in the top half of the field. Alli Keithan (103rd, 19:52.57) and Claire Grogan (126th, 20:12.92) were the last two Bulldogs across the line, and Marie Demedicis also finished 113th (20:02.69), competing unattached.
Layton Dorsett was again the top Samford finisher in the men's race, placing 46th in 26:21.53. Ramsey White was the next Bulldog across the line one minute later in 88th (27:32.94). James Graham (97th, 27:53.61) Henry Stevens-Carty (127th, 29:22.43) and Nicholas Cork (141st, 30:35.08) rounded out Samford's five competitors.
In two weeks, Samford heads to Charleston, S.C., for the SoCon Championships on Saturday, Oct. 29. The Samford women's team has won the past two conference championships.
