THIS WEEK: NCAA SOUTH REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS
Samford begins postseason action on Friday, Nov. 15, competing at the NCAA South Regional Championship hosted by the University of Alabama at Harry Pritchett Running Park in Tuscaloosa, Ala. Competition begins at 10 a.m. CT with the men's 10k and concludes with the women's 6k at 11:15 a.m.
VYING FOR A SPOT IN TERRE HAUTE, IND.
Teams and individuals across each of the nine regions this weekend will be fighting for a spot at the NCAA Championships, held in Terre Haute, Ind., on Saturday, Nov. 23. The top two teams from each region earn automatic bids with the remaining top individual competitors earning at-large bids.
RANKING IN THE SOUTH REGION
The Bulldog men come into this week ranked 14th in the South Region for the second-consecutive week. After falling from 14th to 15th on the Sept. 23 poll, Samford climbed back up to 14th following the Oct. 18 Alabama Crimson Classic meet and have maintained the spot ever since. The women are currently unranked, though their highest ranking this season was eighth.
LAST TIME OUT: WOOTEN AND WEISHAAR LEAD 'DOGS AT SOCON MEET
On Saturday, Samford hosted the 2013 Southern Conference Cross Country Championships, held at Veterans Park just outside of Birmingham. Samford's men's team earned a sixth-place finish in the 8k led by
Luke Weishaar in 21st while the women placed seventh in the 5k, led by
Rachel Wooten in 23rd. In the overall race, Furman swept both competitions, winning the men's and women's team titles.

In the first race of the day, the men's 8k, Weishaar was the first Bulldog across the line in 21st with a time of 25:52.23. Racing in a tight pack for the majority of the race,
Layton Dorsett was the next across in 27th (26:00.23) followed by
Brandon Hazouri (28th, 26:03.78) and
Adam Jones (29th, 26:11.70).Â
Lucas Sieb (44th, 26:55.10) and
James Graham (55th, 27:20.89) rounded out the rest of the Bulldogs' competitors.

In the women's 5k, Wooten was the lead Bulldog in 23rd (18:47.49). Nearly 20 seconds later,
Ansley Bos (35th, 19:08.81) crossed the line with
Frances Bernard (42nd, 19:18.13),
Marie Demedicis (48th, 19:35.22) and
Anna Laura Irvine (58th, 20:08.30) completing the field for Samford.
