2011 Fall Academic All-SoCon Team

Samford University placed 23 student-athletes on the Southern Conference's 2011 Fall Academic All-Conference team, released by the league on Friday.
The Bulldog football team led all Samford teams with nine representatives on the squad. The soccer team placed six players on the Academic All-Conference team, while women's cross country had four representatives on the team. The volleyball team and men's cross country team had two members each on the team.
Samford's 23 student-athletes on the team posted an average grade-point average of 3.63 on a 4.0 scale.
Among the 295 student-athletes were at least 16 representatives from each of the 12 SoCon institutions, participating in men's and women's cross country, football, men's and women's soccer and volleyball. The group recorded a combined 3.63 grade point average on a 4.0 scale.
To be eligible, student-athletes must carry at least a 3.3 cumulative grade point average entering the fall season and were required to compete in at least one-half of their team's competitions during the recently-concluded fall campaign. In addition, the student-athletes must have successfully completed at least 24 credit hours in the previous two semesters.
