Game Notes--UNC Greensboro Game

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Samford women's basketball team will travel to Greensboro, N.C., to take on the UNC Greensboro Spartans in the Bulldogs' Southern Conference opener Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. (CT) at Fleming Gymnasium.

The Bulldogs enter the game with a record of 4-2. Samford is coming off a 73-40 win over in-state rival Jacksonville State Wednesday evening.

Samford is led in scoring by senior guard Paige Anderson, averaging 11.8 points per game. Sophomore guard Shelby Campbell is scoring 10.2 points per game, while senior guard Jazmine Powers has an average of 9.8 points per game.

Senior guard Ruth Ketcham is the team leader in rebounding, pulling down 4.2 boards per contest. Junior forward Hannah Dawson is averaging 4.0 rebounds per game for the Bulldogs.

Powers leads Samford in assists, dishing \out 4.0 per game. Anderson and Campbell are tied for second on the squad in assists, averaging 2.0 per game.

The Spartans are currently 1-4 overall and 0-1 in SoCon play. UNCG is coming off a 63-46 loss to Chattanooga Thursday evening.

UNC Greensboro is led in scoring by Breonna Patterson, averaging 15.0 points per game. Jarae Savage and Sidnei Harmon are averaging 8.0 points per game each.

Harmon is the team leader in rebounding, pulling down 5.8 boards per contest. Janae' Stevenson is averaging 4.6 rebounds per game.

Patterson and Dayshaun Richbow share the team lead in assists with 11 each. Natalie Headley has dished out 10 assists so far this season.

Samford and UNC Greensboro are meeting for the eighth time, with Samford holding a 5-2 advantage in the series. Last season, Samford won both meetings with UNCG. The Bulldogs defeated the Spartans, 66-46 in Birmingham, and they won again by a score of 59-52, in Greensboro.

Samford has an all-time record of 1-2 in games played at UNC Greensboro. Samford is 3-0 against the Spartans in Birmingham, and Samford won the lone neutral site meeting in the 2009 SoCon Tournament.
