2011 Samford Football Schedule
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -
A game at defending BCS national champion Auburn and the always tough Southern Conference slate highlight Samford's 2011 football schedule, released by head coach Pat Sullivan on Thursday.
"We're excited about next year's schedule," Sullivan said. "Along with our conference schedule, having the chance to play at an SEC school is something I know our players and fans are looking forward to."
The Bulldogs' game at Auburn is scheduled for Nov. 19, in Jordan-Hare Stadium. The game marks the first meeting between Samford and Auburn since 1993.
Samford will open the season on Sept. 3 with a home game against Southern Conference foe and 2010 NCAA semifinalist Georgia Southern. The Bulldogs will then play host to Stillman College in a non-conference game on Sept. 10.
Samford will go on the road for the first time when the Bulldogs travel to 2010 SoCon co-champion Wofford on Sept. 24. On Oct. 1, Samford will play host to Gardner-Webb at Seibert Stadium.
The Bulldogs will then travel to Furman on Oct. 8, before playing host to Elon on Oct. 15. Samford then travels to SoCon co-champion Appalachian State on Oct. 22.
Samford plays its final two home games against Western Carolina (Oct. 29) and Chattanooga (Nov. 5). The team's final SoCon game is scheduled for Nov. 12 at The Citadel.
