Women's Hoops To Play At Furman Saturday

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Samford women's basketball team will travel to Greenville, S.C., to take on the Furman Paladins Saturday at 3 p.m. (CT) at Furman's Timmons Arena.

Samford enters the game with a record of 15-9 overall and 10-5 in Southern Conference play, good for fourth place in the league standings. Furman sits in fifth place in the SoCon with an 8-7 league mark. The Paladins are 12-12 overall this season.

Samford is coming off a 70-54 win over College of Charleston on Monday. Furman last played Monday as well, falling to Western Carolina, 51-48 in overtime.

In the win over College of Charleston, Samford was led by senior guard Paige Anderson with 22 points. Sophomore guard Shelby Campbell scored 16 points, while freshman forward Taylor Reece added 11 points for the Bulldogs. Senior guard Jazmine Powers dished out a career-high 10 assists in the win.

For the season, Anderson leads Samford in scoring, averaging 13.5 points per game. Senior guard Ruth Ketcham is second on the team in scoring, with an average of 9.1 points per game.

Junior forward Hannah Dawson leads the Bulldogs in rebounding, pulling down 4.7 boards per contest. Ketcham is second in the category, averaging 4.0 rebounds per game.

The team leader in assists is Powers, dishing out 3.5 assists per game. Ketcham is second on the team in assists as well, averaging 2.5 assists per game.

Furman is led in scoring by Reagan Thompson, averaging 10.7 points per game. Brittany Hodges is second on the team in scoring, with an average of 9.9 points per game.

Lashana Booker leads the Paladins in rebounding, pulling down 6.2 boards per contest. Hodges ranks second in rebounding, averaging 6.1 rebounds per game.

Kaitlin Murphy is the team leader in assists, dishing out 4.0 assists per game. Brigid Morrissey is second in assists, with an average of 2.2 assists per game.

Samford and Furman will be meeting for the eighth time, with Samford holding a 6-1 advantage in the series. Earlier this season, the teams met in the Pete Hanna Center, with Samford winning, 71-66 in overtime.

Last season, Samford swept the season series. The Bulldogs won the first meeting in Birmingham, 64-58, and then won the game in Greenville, S.C., by a score of 63-54. Samford is 3-0 against Furman in games played in Greenville. The Bulldogs are 3-1 against the Paladins in the Pete Hanna Center.
