BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ---- Samford senior pole vaulter Michael Seaman was named the Southern Conference's Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Month for February, as announced by the conference office Tuesday.
During the month, the Bardstown, Ky., native won his third-consecutive indoor conference title in the pole vault, breaking his own conference meet record with a height of 17-10.5 (5.45m). Only three days later, he competed in the USA Indoor Track and Field Championships, finishing 10th as the only collegiate in the pole vault field. He capped off the indoor season with a sixth-place finish at the NCAA Championships, clearing 17-10.5 (5.45m) and earning first team All-American accolades.
Samford track continues the outdoor season this weekend at the Shamrock Invitational in Myrtle Beach, S.C., beginning Saturday, March 17.
