BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -
The Samford baseball team will travel to Tuscaloosa, Ala., to take on the University of Alabama tonight at 6 p.m. at Sewell-Thomas Stadium.
The Bulldogs enter the game with a record of 11-5. Samford won two-of-three games at UNC Greensboro over the weekend.
Samford is led offensively by Saxon Butler, batting .435 (27-of-62) with four home runs and 18 RBI. Brandon Miller leads the team in home runs with seven and in RBI with 24.
Samford is scheduled to start right-hander C.K. Irby on the mound in tonight's game. Irby enters the game with a record of 2-0 and an ERA of 1.23.
The Crimson Tide enters the game with a record of 7-9. Alabama lost two-of-three games in a tournament over the weekend, and defeated Southern Mississippi in a midweek game on Tuesday.
Alabama is led at the plate by Taylor Dugas, batting .351 with six doubles and five RBI. Brett Booth leads the Crimson Tide in RBI with 12 so far this season.
The Crimson Tide is expected to start right-handed freshman Spencer Turnbull on the mound. Turnbull has a record of 0-1 and an ERA of 4.61.
Samford and Alabama will be meeting for the 103rd time, with Alabama holding an 87-15 advantage in the series. Under head coach Casey Dunn, Samford is 6-6 against the Crimson Tide. Samford has won four of its last five games against Alabama.
