ALABAMA HIGH TIDE QUALIFIER
Samford will send a small group of competitors to the Alabama High Tide Qualifier on Saturday, March 3 at the Birmingham Crossplex in Birmingham, Ala. The field for the NCAA Championships will be set next week so individuals will be looking to set marks to move up the national ranks.

SAMFORD CROWNS SEVEN CONFERENCE CHAMPIONS
Over two days of competition at the 2012 SoCon Indoor Track and Field Championships, Samford crowned seven individual champoins. Four of the seven titles were new SoCon meet records. In the final team rankings, the men finished third (147.5) and the women fourth (85).

Bo Ackerson-Gilroy took home a title in the men's heptathlon, breaking teammate Brandon Bassett's conference meet record from last season with a total of 5,172 points. His performance in multiple events throughout the meet earned him the Most Outstanding Male Field Performer award and the Men's Most Outstanding Athlete award, given to the individual who scores the most points at the meet.

Samford swept the men's and women's pole vaults, with both Michael Seaman (17-10.5, 5.45m) and Claire Goodson (13-3.5, 4.05m) setting new SoCon meet records. The title is Seaman's third-consecutive indoor title, fourth overall.

Kyle Kirby was the fourth Bulldog to set a SoCon meet record, winning the weight throw with a best toss of 63-1.5 (19.23m).

Samford's three other champions were Justin Emerson in the men's 60-meter dash (6.86), Marie Demedicis in the women's 800 meters (2:12.90) and Emily Allen in the women's triple jump (39-5.25, 12.02m).

SEAMAN PLACES 10TH AT USATF INDOOR CHAMPIONSHIPS
In a quick turnaround after his conference championship Thursday, Michael Seaman earned an invitation to Albuquerque, New Mexico for the 2012 USA Indoor Championships on Sunday. There, he finished 10th (17-4.5, 5.30m) as the only collegiate competitor in the entire field. He is the first ever Samford athlete to compete at the event.
