BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Samford's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) held its second-annual newcomer social for all new student-athletes Wednesday evening in the Pete Hanna Center.
All freshmen and transfer student-athletes, as well as members of SAAC were invited to the event. Samford director of athletics
Martin Newton got the evening started by talking to the student-athletes about supporting each other.
The student-athletes then divided into teams and competed in a variety of events, including assembling an airplane, balloon cup knock down, bucket toss, pie-eating contest, toilet paper mummy, Oreo lick, dizzy bat/dribble, panty-hose bowling and frozen t-shirt.
The team named "This is Bulldog Country" won the contest. Members of the winning team were Gregory Mula, Emeka Ikezu, Royus Amos, Garrett Moores, Rebecca Leonard, Olen Oates, Chaz Claunch, Sam Pettway, Nicole Charley and Gabriele Greenwald.
At the conclusion of the evening, the student-athletes were served ice cream.
