BIRMINGHAM, Alabama – The Samford University volleyball team suffered its fourth-straight loss after a the team dropped a 3-0 decision to Furman University inside the Pete Hanna Center on Senior Night, Friday, Nov. 14.
The Bulldogs (16-12, 10-5 SoCon) started the match out strong offensively with senior
Michaela Reesor and sophomore
Erin Bognar each tallying four kills apiece. The team hit .333 for its best percentage of the night but the Paladins (20-6, 13-2 SoCon) bested the Samford with a .382 average to take a 25-19 win in the initial set.
From there SU's offensive production dramatically declined as the team only managed six kills in a 25-16 defeat in the second set to give FU a 2-0 lead heading into the intermission. The Bulldogs held a 11-8 advantage before the Paladins rallied for 15 straight points to take a commanding 23-11 lead and eventually finish the set with a 25-16 decision.
The Paladins carried the momentum into the third set to capture the match after another 25-16 final.
Reesor finished 10 kills and seven digs while senior libero
Chelsi Carter tallied 13 digs.
The Bulldogs will be back in action for its final home match of the regular season on Saturday, Nov. 15, at 2 p.m. the game can be viewed via live stream on the SoCon Digital Network.
