Samford Multi and Invitational (Division I & II)

MEET SCHEDULE
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford University track and field team is set to host the Samford Multi and Invitational tomorrow, Feb. 7, and Saturday, Feb. 8 at the Birmingham CrossPlex. The state-of-the-art facility will play host to a total of 47 teams and over 1,800 athletes, which is a record for a collegiate event held at the CrossPlex.
SU will field nearly its full roster of athletes this weekend after inclimate weather hindered the team to only sending a few to the JDL Hilton Garden Invitational – Camel City Elite this past weekend on Jan. 31 and Feb. 1 in Winston Salem, N.C.
"We are chomping at the bit to compete." said head coach Rod Tiffin. "Because of the snowstorm, we didn't get a chance to send everyone that we wanted to compete last weekend."
Brandon Hazouri, Nathan Hendershot and Lauren D'Alessio were the only Bulldogs to compete at the Camel City Elite and coach Tiffin is ready for the rest of the team to get back into competition mode after having an extended period of time away from competition.
"We are expecting a lot of good things from the rest of the team this weekend," said Tiffin. "Some of our freshmen have really been standing out and that's something we are anxious to see."
Even though some of the freshmen are sticking out, be sure to keep an eye out this weekend for several Samford former Southern Conference champions: Brandon Bassett, the 2011 SoCon heptathlon gold medalist; Owen Wagoner, the 2012 SoCon Outdoor pole vault champion; and Claire Goodson, 2012 SoCon Indoor & Outdoor pole vault champion.
