Women's Tennis Drops 4-0 Decision At UCF

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Samford women's tennis team dropped a 4-0 decision at UCF Thursday morning at the UCF Tennis Complex.

With the loss, Samford falls to 4-7 on the season. UCF improves to 6-4 with the win.

UCF took the doubles point, with wins at the No. 3 and No. 1 positions. At No. 3, Monica Matias and Cortney Cesarini defeated Samford's Savannah Wood and Annika Hepp, 6-1. The Knights secured the point at No. 1, with Sofia Baptista and Natalia Serrano earning a 6-3 win over Jessica Northcutt and Carita Moolman.

In singles, the Knights earned wins at the No. 5, No. 3 and No. 4 positions to finish off the 4-0 win.

At No. 5, Serrano defeated Wood, 6-1, 6-3. Matias earned a 6-2, 6-2 win over Iva Parapunova at No. 3, while at No. 4, Cesarini defeated Ellie Gerlach, 6-4, 6-4, to finish the match. The matches at No. 1, No. 2 and No. 6 were unfinished.

Samford will play again Friday, when the Bulldogs play at Stetson. The match is set to start at 4 p.m.
