DAY 1 RESULTS
JACKSON, Tenn.— The Samford men's golf team sits in seventh place after the first two rounds of the Grover Page Classic, hosted by UT Martin, Monday at the Jackson Country Club.
"We continue to improve in many areas, but still have too many big numbers," Samford head coach Al DelGreco said. "I expect a much better team score tomorrow."
In Monday's rounds, Samford shot a two-round total of 593 (296-297). Arkansas State currently leads the tournament with a score of 566 (282-284), while UT Martin sits in second at 569 (292-277).
Individually for Samford, senior Zach Hughes (73-70) and freshman Crawford Flach (68-75) led the team, tying for ninth, both with a score of 143.
"Crawford played a really solid first round with five birdies and one bogey," DelGreco said. "Zach gave a couple back coming in, but was steady as always. Zach played solid in the afternoon and Crawford struggled with his tee, but got in at three over par."
Ashton Nix tied for 49th in the event, tallying a two-round score of 154 (79-75). Aaron Walker fired a 155 (78-77), tying for 54th overall. Robert Adams finished 58th at 156 (77-79).
Andrew Huseman of Arkansas State leads the tournament with a score of 139 (69-70). Preston French of Murray State, Hunter Richardson of UT Martin and Jack Lee of Nicholls State are tied for second with scores of 140.
The final round of the tournament is scheduled for Tuesday. The round will begin with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. A full recap and results will be posted at www.samfordsports.com.
