BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford football team moved up to 14
th in this week's FCS Coaches poll and 16
th in the STATS FCS poll, both released Monday afternoon.
Last week, the Bulldogs were 18
th in the Coaches poll and 19
th in the STATS poll. Samford took the last week off from competition. Samford has won its last two games, earning a home win over The Citadel (35-14) and a road win at VMI (26-7).
The Bulldogs are one of three Southern Conference teams to make this week's top 25 in both polls. Wofford leads the way, ranking fifth in both polls. Following Samford, Western Carolina is ranked 21
st in the Coaches poll and 19
th in the STATS poll.
In the Coaches poll, The Citadel and non-conference opponent Kennesaw State are receiving votes. In the STATS poll, The Citadel, Kennesaw State, Furman and Mercer also received votes in this week's poll.
The Bulldogs (4-2, 2-1 SoCon) will play at fifth-ranked Wofford (6-0, 4-0 SoCon) Saturday at 12:30 p.m. (CT) in Spartanburg, S.C. The game can be heard locally on FM-99.1 The Game, or online at
