KENNESAW, Ga. -- The Samford University basketball team rallied back from a 10-point deficit late in the second half Thursday, but the Kennesaw State Owls were able to connect on their free throws in the final minutes to post a 71-66 win held at the KSU Convocation Center.

With approximately two minutes remaining in the game, Samford (4-9) used back-to-back layups from seniors Demetrius Denzel-Dyson and Alex Peters to garner a 64-63 advantage over Kennesaw State (3-9). Peters' basket occurred at exactly 1:40 remaining in the contest as the Bulldogs took their last lead in the final 10 minutes of action.

The Owls' Tyler Hooker then scored the next five points of the game as Kennesaw State's 6-foot, 150-pound sophomore connected on a 3-point basket as well as a pair of free throws on the ensuing possession. Hooker's five-point outburst gave the Owls the lead at 68-64 with 1:07 left to play.

Samford's Denzel-Dyson knocked down a pair of free throws in the final minute, but all of the Bulldogs' attempts from the field proved to be off the mark.
