BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—The Samford women's golf team finished second in the Samford Spring Shootout, held Monday at Greystone Country Club (par 72, 5,909 yards).

As a team, Samford shot a 604 (303-301) for the day. Jacksonville State won the event with a two-round score of 596 (302-294). Western Kentucky placed third in the six-team field, firing a score of 610 (316-294), followed by Dalton State in fourth at 615 (306-309).

"I'm very pleased with how the girls scored today," Samford head coach Rachel Ingram said. "Shooting 303 and 301 are solid rounds anytime of the year, especially on February 13^th. I'm really excited to see the future for us as we continue and get better, improve and get stronger, and are mentally better, especially on our par fives."

Samford was led individually by Kate Collom, finishing in a tie for fourth in the 49-player field with a two-round score of 148 (77-71). The 71 marked her first collegiate sub-par round.

"Today was Kate's first day shooting under par in collegiate play, and I am so thrilled for her," Ingram said. "She has worked very hard, both in the fall and over Christmas break, and it has definitely paid off. She's always been a solid player for us, and I'm excited to see the continued growth in her game."

Behind Collom for Samford, Anna Buchanan and Madeline Davis both tied for 11^th with identical scores of 152 (75-77). Emily Uhland tied for 23^rd, firing a score of 154 (76-78), while Haley Harrington tied for 27^th at 156 (80-76).
