Bulldogs Kick Off Season At Jacksonville State

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - - The men's and women's cross country teams will start the season off at the JSU Struts Season Opener hosted by Jacksonville State University on Friday. The Bulldogs are coming into this meet with a healthy squad and a positive outlook on the season. Head Coach Pat McGregor stated that while the focus is obviously toward the end of the season, he expects his squad to go out and compete, learn from the opener and find ways to improve for the next meet.

On the men's side, the Bulldogs will have quite a few experienced competitors as senior standout Arsène Guillorel will lead the way with along with seniors Paul Richardson and Josh Salter. The Bulldogs will add six newcomers as well.

For the women, seniors Karisa Nelson, Anna Long and Emma Garner will lead the way with the help of graduate transfer Haley Ward. The ladies will also have some added experience as the impressive freshman class of 2016 all have a year of competition under their belts.

The college women's 4K is set to begin Friday at 6 p.m., with the men's 5K to follow at 6:40 p.m. Division I schools will compete in the red division while all others will compete in the white division.
