DAVIS, Calif. -- The Samford University soccer team extended its undefeated streak to three consecutive matches Friday as the Bulldogs earned a historic 1-0 road victory against the UC Davis Aggies in their first all-time contest held in the state of California. The matchup was held at the Aggies Soccer Field and Samford's Virginia McNeill scored the game-winning goal in the 60th minute of play.
 
The Bulldogs will continue their two-match California road trip Sunday with a 2 p.m. (CT) contest against the Saint Mary's (CA) Gaels in Moraga.
 
With its win Friday, Samford (3-5-1) remained hot as of late as the Bulldogs tallied their third straight positive decision. Last week, Samford played to a huge 1-1 home draw with Georgia and has since registered shutout road wins against Western Kentucky and UC Davis (1-8-0).
 
The Bulldogs have faced an arduous schedule this year. Hands-down one of the toughest in the nation, Samford'S 2017 slate has already featured matches against Memphis, Alabama, No. 4 Florida State, Michigan State and Georgia.
 
McNeill, the Bulldogs' talented senior midfielder from Charlotte, North Carolina, scored Samford's game-winning goal Friday. At exactly 59:53 into the match, McNeill gathered a rebounded shot and fired a tally into the left corner of the net for the score.
 
The decisive goal proved to be McNeill's first of the season.
 
The Bulldogs' goalkeeper Anna Maddox earned her second shutout victory of the year. She came up with four big saves Friday against six shot attempts from UC Davis.
 
Samford outshot the Aggies, 13-6, and dominated the corner kick battle, 10-2.
 
The Samford University soccer team will next be in action Sunday at 2 p.m. (CT) as the Bulldogs continue their historic California road swing with a highly-anticipated matchup against the Saint Mary's (CA) Gaels. The matchup will be held at Saint Mary's Stadium in Moraga, which is located just east of Oakland.
