Jermaine Seoposenwe fired home the game-winning goal to defeat the Western Carolina Catamounts, 1-0, in a hard-fought Southern Conference opener held at the Catamount Athletic Complex.

Seoposenwe's golden goal was assisted by both
Abriella Argueta and goalkeeper
Anna Maddox, who helped set up the decisive tally in the 101
st minute of action. The score proved to be Seoposenwe's seventh of the season and the 12
th game-winner of her illustrious Bulldog career.

With the triumph,
Samford (5-5-1, 1-0 SoCon) extended its winning streak to four matches and its undefeated streak to five. The Bulldogs have tallied four straight shutout victories and haven't allowed a goal in the last 470 minutes of action.

Western Carolina (3-6-1, 0-1 SoCon), 26-3, on Friday, including a 15-2 tally in shots on goal.

Seoposenwe paced the Bulldogs with nine shot attempts, while
Ella Baggett followed with six. The Catamounts' Megan McCallister accounted for both of her team's shots on goal, as well as two of the three total shot attempts.

Samford's Maddox notched her fourth straight shutout Friday. The Bulldogs' reigning SoCon Player of the Week registered two key saves in the win over Western Carolina.

The Samford University soccer team will next be in action Sunday at 1 p.m. (CT) as the Bulldogs continue their weekend road swing against the ETSU Buccaneers in another tough road test to be held at Summers-Taylor Stadium in Johnson City, Tennessee.
