CULLOWHEE, N.C. – The 17
th-ranked Samford football team will open Southern Conference play with a game at Western Carolina today at 2:30 p.m. (CT) at WCU's E.J. Whitmire Stadium.
Samford enters the game with a record of 2-1 so far this season. The Bulldogs are coming off a 42-14 loss at SEC power and 13
th-ranked Georgia Saturday evening.
Western Carolina is also 2-1 so far this season. The Catamounts earned a 42-27 win at Gardner-Webb last weekend.
Samford and Western Carolina are meeting for the 15th time, with Samford holding a 12-2 advantage in the series. The teams last met on Oct. 22, 2016 in Birmingham, Ala. Samford earned a 30-17 victory in that contest. The first meeting in the series came on Nov. 8, 1969, with Western Carolina earning a 47-13 win in Birmingham.
