BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The Samford University volleyball team earned a decisive 3-1 home victory against the Wofford Terriers on Saturday as the Bulldogs notched a key Southern Conference win at the Pete Hanna Center.

Samford (6-10, 1-1 SoCon) tallied the triumph by scores of 25-19, 24-26, 25-21 and 25-12, and registered its third straight victory against Wofford (10-6, 1-2 SoCon).

The Bulldogs came out strong Saturday and bounced back well after a 3-0 home loss to The Citadel on Friday. The Terriers suffered their second loss of the SoCon season after notching a 3-0 road win at Mercer on Friday.

Samford's Krista Boesing led all competitors with 20 kills, while sophomore Kelsi Hobbs followed with 15 and true freshman Kendal Strand chipped in with 10. Hobbs, the Bulldogs' talented native of nearby Hoover, didn't commit a single attacking error Saturday and turned in a brilliant .455 hitting percentage.

Strand notched the team's lone double-double of the match with 10 kills and 15 digs. Junior setter Taylor Anderton posted a team-high 49 assists in the contest and added nine digs.

Wofford's Colleen Reilly paced her squad with 15 kills, while Catie Cronister followed closely with 13 kills, but also committed 12 errors. Lorissa King accumulated 42 assists in the contest for the Terriers.

The Samford University volleyball team will next be in action Friday and Saturday as the Bulldogs travel to Western Carolina and UNCG for two key road conference matchups.
