Soccer Wins Fifth-Straight SoCon Title With 1-0 Win At UNCG

GREENSBORO, N.C. –
The Samford soccer team secured its fifth-straight Southern Conference regular-season title with a 1-0 win at UNCG Sunday afternoon.
 
The Bulldogs finish the regular season with a record of 11-5-1 overall and 8-0-1 in SoCon play. The Bulldogs have now gone 25 straight SoCon regular-season matches without a loss. During the five-year run for Samford, the Bulldogs have posted an impressive 39-4-2 record in league games. Samford earns the No. 1 seed for the SoCon Tournament, which starts next weekend.
 
UNCG falls to 12-4-1 overall and 7-2 in SoCon contests. The Spartans finish second in the league standings and will earn the No. 2 seed for the upcoming SoCon Tournament.
 
KEY PLAYS
  • The first half was played evenly, with each team taking three shots, but neither able to net a goal.
  • The teams played through most of the second half scoreless as well until Samford's Grace Sommi scored on a header off an assist from Alyssa Frazier following a corner kick in the 84th minute of the contest.
