TROY, Ala. – The Samford women's basketball team dropped a 72-52 decision at Troy Monday night at Trojan Arena. With the loss, Samford falls to 1-2 on the season. Troy improves to 1-1 with the win.

• Samantha Fitzgerald led Samford with 14 points and nine rebounds.
• Katie Allen scored nine points for the Bulldogs.
• Olivia Crozier added eight points.
• Charity Brown contributed five assists in the loss.

 
GAME HIGHLIGHTS

• Samford fell behind, 10-4 with 3:46 to go in the first quarter.
• The Bulldog scored the next four points to cut the lead to 10-8 with 2:12 left in the period after a layup by Katie Allen, but Troy scored the last three points of the quarter to take a 13-8 lead.
• After Samford cut the lead to 13-10, Troy went on an 11-0 run to take a 24-10 lead with 6:59 to play in the second quarter.
• Troy pushed its lead to as many as 18 points in the second quarter at 33-15, and the Trojans took a 33-21 lead into the locker room at halftime.
• In the third quarter, Troy pushed its lead back out to 18 points at 42-24 with 5:19 left in the period.
• Samford answered with an 8-1 run to cut the lead to 11 points at 43-32 with 2:16 left in the quarter after a layup by Samantha Fitzgerald. At the end of three quarters, Troy held a 46-32 advantage.
• Troy extended its lead to 23 points at 66-43 with 2:52 left in the contest.
• The Trojans finished the game with a 72-52 victory.

• Samford will travel to Montgomery, Alabama, to take on Alabama State Thursday evening. The game is set for a 6 p.m. start from ASU's Joe L. Reed Acadome.
