Men's Basketball Earns 77-59 Road Win At Alabama A&M

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. –
The Samford men's basketball team pulled away in the second half for a 77-59 road win at Alabama A&M Sunday afternoon.
 
With the win, Samford improves to 8-2 on the season. Alabama A&M falls to 0-9 with the loss.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS
  • Samford jumped out to an early 7-2 lead with 18:04 left in the first half after a layup by Josh Sharkey.
  • Samford extended its lead to seven points at 15-8 with 11:10 to go in the half after a jumper by Gordon.
  • With Samford leading, 15-11, the Bulldogs went on a 9-2 run to push its lead to 24-13 with 6:30 left in the opening half after a pair of free throws by Gordon.
  • Alabama A&M fought back to cut the Samford lead to two points at 28-26 with 1:27 left in the half, but Samford took a 30-26 lead into the locker room at halftime.
  • Alabama A&M scored the first eight points of the second half to take a 34-30 lead with 18:10 left in the second half.

  • Samford closed the game with a 12-3 run to pull away for the 77-59 victory, with the final basket coming on a layup by J.T. Mumber for his first collegiate basket.
