Softball Falls To Boston College, 4-0 At Easton Crimson Classic

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. –
The Samford softball team dropped a 4-0 decision to Boston College on the second day of the Easton Crimson Classic Saturday morning at Rhoads Stadium.
 
In the loss for Samford, Ryan Brzozoski went 2-for-2 at the plate. Whitney Hinton, Shelby Maze, Mekhi Mayfield and Lexie Higgins had one hit each for the Bulldogs.
 
Taylor DeCelles (3-6) took the loss in the circle for Samford. DeCelles pitched 6.0 innings, allowing four runs, just three earned on five hits.
 
Boston College was led by Carly Severini, going 1-for-2 with a home run and one RBI. Lexi DiEmmanuele and Chloe Sharabba also drove in a run each for the Eagles. Allyson Frei (2-7) earned the win in the circle, pitching 7.0 innings, giving up no runs on six hits.
 
Boston College jumped out to an early lead, plating one run in the first inning and two runs in the second to take a 3-0 advantage. The Eagles added a run in the fifth inning on Severini's home run to make the score 4-0.
 
Samford strongest scoring threat came in the sixth inning when the Bulldogs loaded the bases with two outs. Kathryn Jackson's line drive, however, was snagged by BC shortstop Sharabba to end the threat.  
 
With the loss, Samford falls to 5-18. Boston College improves to 8-11 with win.
 
Samford will play again Saturday, taking on Fordham at 3 p.m.
