KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Samford basketball players
Justin Coleman and
Demetrius Denzel-Dyson were both honored by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) on Tuesday as the Bulldogs' duo received Second-Team All-District 22 accolades, it was announced by the national organization.

These NABC selections were nominated and voted on by member coaches of the NABC in NCAA Division I, these student-athletes represent the finest basketball players across America.

Coleman earned the honors for his outstanding play this season. The Bulldogs' junior point guard from Birmingham, Alabama, averaged 13.5 points per contest and led the Southern Conference in both assists (210) and assists per game (6.6).

Coleman closed out the season with 210 assists, which marked the second highest total in school history. He also led the team in minutes (1,040) and minutes per game (32.5).

Denzel-Dyson garnered Second-Team All-District NABC honors on Tuesday. He led the Bulldogs with 15.2 points per game and also pulled down an average of 5.0 rebounds per contest this season.

Ranked fourth in the SoCon with 2.5 3-point field goals per game this year, Denzel-Dyson received postseason All-SoCon honors for a second straight season. In 2017, Samford's talented 6-foot-5 wing player, received Third-Team accolades.

Located in Kansas City, the NABC was founded in 1927 by Phog Allen, the legendary basketball coach at the University of Kansas. Allen, a student of James Naismith, the inventor of basketball, organized coaches into this collective group to serve as Guardians of the Game.

The NABC currently has nearly 5,000 members consisting primarily of university and college men's basketball coaches. All members of the NABC are expected to uphold the core values of being a Guardian of the Game by bringing attention to the positive aspects of the sport of basketball and the role coaches play in the academic and athletic lives of today's student-athletes.

The four core values of being a Guardian of the Game are advocacy, leadership, service and education.
