GAME NOTES
AUSTIN, Texas. – The Samford softball team will step out of Southern Conference play as the Bulldogs travel for a three-game series this weekend at the University of Texas. The teams are scheduled to play a doubleheader Saturday at 11 a.m., and a single game Sunday, also at 11 a.m.
Samford enters the weekend with a record of 12-26 overall and 2-3 in SoCon play. The Bulldogs picked up a thrilling 11-10, walk-off win over in-state rival Jacksonville State Tuesday evening.
For Samford this season, senior center fielder
Shelby Maze leads the team with a .391 batting average with three doubles, one triple, five RBI and a team-high 25 runs scored.
Hannah Trombley is hitting .287 with four home runs and a team-high 22 RBI.
Whitney Hinton leads the team in home runs with five.

McKenna Gillespie has a team-best 4.00 ERA, to go along with her 3-7 record.
Taylor DeCelles leads the team in wins with a 5-10 record and a 5.73 ERA, while
Annalyn Yantis has a mark of 3-8, to go along with her 5.10 ERA.
Texas is currently 20-14 overall and 6-0 in Big 12 play. The Longhorns are coming off a 1-0 win over Texas-San Antonio Wednesday evening.
Samford and Texas have met just one previous time in softball, with the Longhorns owning a 1-0 advantage in the series. The teams' lone previous meeting came on March 12, 2016, with Texas winning by a score of 10-8. The game was part of the Maverick Classic in Arlington, Texas.
