BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Samford softball team saw two of its star players earn individual honors yesterday as
Olivia Shaw and
Katie Campbell were named to the NFCA South-Region Team. Shaw earned second-team honors while Campbell was named to the third team yesterday afternoon.
Shaw was named to the NFCA second team after a stellar junior season with the Bulldogs. She was named Preseason SoCon Player of the Year and delivered on those expectations, winning the Player of the Year award last week. finished the season in the top 10 in the SoCon in seven offensive categories, including leading the conference in doubles (20). She tied head coach Megan Curry for the school record for doubles in her career. The native of Hoschton, Georgia, leads the Bulldogs in batting average (.383), hits (69), and runs (47). The junior, who played and started all 59 games for Samford, finished the season with 19 multi-hit games and two or more RBIs in a game on 17 occasions.Â
Campbell earned third-team honors after she led the conference with 18 home runs, which set a school record. She hit .339 and led the Dogs with 55Â RBIs. A native of Cape Coral, Florida, Campbell finished in the top five in the conference in OPS, RBIs, and total bases. Campbell was named to an NFCA team for the second straight season after she was on the second team in 2025.Â
The Bulldogs saw their season come to an end in the championship game of the SoCon Tournament as they fell to UNCG 4-0, ending with a 28-31 record.
