FULL ACADEMIC ALL-CONFERENCE TEAM
SPARTANBURG, S.C.—Samford University placed 47 student-athletes on the Southern Conference's Spring Academic All-Conference team, released by the SoCon Monday afternoon.
Among Samford's spring sports, women's outdoor track and field and women's indoor track and field placed 10 members on the team each. Men's outdoor track and field had five representatives on the team, while men's golf, men's tennis, women's basketball and women's tennis placed three members each on the squad. Baseball, men's basketball, men's indoor track and field, softball and women's golf had two representatives each on the team.
For the conference as a whole, the league's 10 members compiled 572 selections by 488 different student-athletes (84 earned the honor for both indoor and outdoor track and field). The 572 selections is a record for the spring team, breaking the previous record of 479 selections in spring 2017.
Samford's 47 student-athletes on the team posted an average grade-point average of 3.64.
To be eligible for the Academic All-Conference team, student-athletes must carry at least a 3.3 cumulative grade point average at the conclusion of the spring semester and were required to compete in at least one-half of their teams' competitions. In addition, the student-athletes must have successfully completed at least three semesters at their institutions, making true freshmen and first-year transfers ineligible for inclusion.
