BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford soccer team's home match vs. Rice set for Friday night was canceled late in the first half due to lightning in the Birmingham area.

Samford had taken a 1-0 lead on a goal by Ella Baggett off an assist by Erin Bonner in the 10th minute of the match. In the 27th minute, however, lightning moved into the area, and after waiting for about an hour and a half, the match was canceled.

Samford will host Memphis Monday evening. The match is set for a 7 p.m. start from the Samford Track and Soccer Stadium. Admission to the match is FREE!
