CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – The Samford men's basketball team fought back from a 14-point deficit, but could not get over the hump as the Bulldogs dropped an 80-75 decision at Chattanooga Saturday afternoon at McKenzie Arena.
With the loss, Samford falls to 11-7 overall and 1-4 in Southern Conference play. Chattanooga improves to 8-10 overall and 3-2 in league contests.

- Samford was led by Josh Sharkey with 22 points and seven assists.
- Robert Allen had 16 points and 10 rebounds for Samford.
- Ruben Guerrero added 14 points and nine rebounds for the Bulldogs.
- Chattanooga was led by Kevin Easley with 20 points.
- Ramon Vila had 18 points and 11 rebounds for the Mocs.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- Samford jumped out to an early 9-2 lead with 17:58 to go in the first half after a layup by Sharkey.
- Chattanooga answered with a 16-2 run to take an 18-11 lead with 11:37 left in the opening half.
- Samford came back with an 8-2 run to cut the lead to 19-18 with 9:37 left in the half following another Sharkey layup.
- After Samford took a 23-21 lead, Chattanooga went on a 12-2 run to take a 33-25 advantage with 5:42 to go in the half.
- Chattanooga pushed its lead to 10 points at 39-29 with 4:01 to go in the first half, but Samford closed the half with a 10-2 run to cut the lead to 41-39 entering halftime.
- The Mocs opened the second half with a 10-0 run to push its lead to 51-39 with 17:35 left in the second half.
- Chattanooga pushed its lead to as many as 14 points at 65-51 with 12:17 to go in the second half.
- With Chattanooga leading, 69-56, Samford went on a 9-0 run to cut the lead to 69-65 with 5:40 to go after a three-pointer by Myron Gordon.
- The Bulldogs closed to within one point at 72-71, but Chattanooga's David Jean-Baptiste answered with a three-pointer to push the lead to 75-71 with 1:44 to go in regulation.
- Samford cut the lead to two at 75-73, but the Mocs responded with another three-pointer, this one by Easley, to give Chattanooga a 78-73 lead.
- A Sharkey layup cut the lead to 78-75, but a pair of Jerry Johnson free throws closed out the 80-75 Chattanooga win.
