BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford volleyball team earned a 3-0 (25-10, 25-17, 28-26) win over the Mercer Bears Wednesday evening in the Pete Hanna Center.

With the win, Samford improves to 17-5 overall and 11-1 in SoCon play. The match was Samford's final home contest of the 2019 season. Mercer falls to 11-13 overall and 4-7 in league play.

KEY MOMENTS

Samford started the first set off hot, grabbing an early 6-1 lead.
The Bulldogs led the entire first set, coming away with the 25-10 set victory.
In the second set Samford built a 10-point lead at 20-10, but Mercer fought back to cut the lead to 21-16.
Samford, however, scored four of the next five points to take the 25-17 win.
In the third set, Samford fell behind, 6-2, but the Bulldogs fought back to take the lead at 12-11.
Samford built a 20-16 lead, but Mercer came back to tie the score at 24-24.
The teams traded points until Samford pulled out the 28-26 set win and the 3-0 match victory.

Kelsi Hobbs led Samford with nine kills and seven digs.
Lauren Deaton had nine kills and six digs.
Emily Naubert led the team in digs with nine.
Corinne Meglic led the team in assists with 28.
