SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Three Samford student-athletes earned Southern Conference Athlete of the Month honors when the league released its monthly awards for October, Friday afternoon.

Kyla Reynolds was named the Offensive Player of the Month for soccer, while Morgan McAslan earned Defensive Player of the Month honors for soccer. Kelsi Hobbs was named the Volleyball Offensive Player of the Month.

Reynolds helped lead the Samford soccer team to a 6-1 record, all in conference play, during the month of October. She scored a team-high six goals, and also dished out one assist for a total of 13 points. She had two goals each in wins over ETSU, The Citadel and VMI. She also had an assist in the win over The Citadel.

Reynolds helped lead the Samford soccer team to a 6-1 record, all in conference play, during the month of October. McAslan allowed just two goals in seven games during the month of October. She posted solo or shared shutouts against Western Carolina, The Citadel, UNCG, VMI and Chattanooga. She saved a total of 20 shots in the seven contests in leading the team to a 6-1 record for the month.
Hobbs led the Samford volleyball team to an 8-1 record in nine matches, all in SoCon play, in the month of October. She finished the month with a team high 141 kills, and she added 82 digs. She had double-digit kills in eight of the nine matches, and she had double-digit digs three times during the month.
 The Samford soccer team will host The Citadel in a Southern Conference Tournament quarterfinal game Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Samford Track and Soccer Stadium. Admission to the game is FREE. The volleyball team is off this weekend, but will play at UNC Greensboro Nov. 8 at 6 p.m. (CT). ÂÂ
