BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford soccer team advanced to the semifinals of the Southern Conference Tournament and volleyball captured a key SoCon win to highlight last week's action.
This week, soccer will continue its play in the SoCon Tournament, football will host its homecoming game, and the men's and women's basketball teams will open their regular seasons.
FOOTBALL
The football team suffered a tough, 36-33 triple-overtime loss at Mercer last Saturday. The game marked the Bulldogs' fourth overtime contest of the season.
This week, the football team will host its homecoming game against Chattanooga Saturday at 2 p.m. at Seibert Stadium. Tickets can be found at

SOCCER
The soccer team defeated The Citadel, 5-1 in the Southern Conference Tournament quarterfinals last Saturday at the Samford Track and Soccer Stadium.
This week, the soccer team will take on Mercer in the semifinals of the tournament Friday at 3 p.m. (CT) in Greensboro, N.C. The championship game of the tournament is scheduled for Sunday at 1 p.m. (CT). For links to follow the game, go to the soccer schedule page linked below.

VOLLEYBALL
The volleyball team played just once last week, earning a 3-0 win over Mercer Wednesday night in the Pete Hanna Center. The match was the final home contest of the season for the volleyball team.

CROSS-COUNTRY
The Samford cross-country teams competed in the Southern Conference Championships last week. The women's team finished second in the meet, while the men's team came in third.

MEN'S BASKETBALL
The men's basketball team will open its regular season with three games over the next week. The Bulldogs will play at Morehead State Tuesday night at 6 p.m. (CT). The team will then host Kentucky Wesleyan Thursday at 6:30 p.m. in the Pete Hanna Center. The Bulldogs will then travel to Nashville, Tenn., for a game at Belmont Monday night at 6:30 p.m.

The women's basketball team hosted an exhibition game with Oglethorpe last Saturday, earning an 86-52 win in the Pete Hanna Center.

MEN'S GOLF
The Samford men's golf team competed in the Kiawah Classic, hosted by College of Charleston, Sunday through Tuesday. The Bulldogs tied the 14
th in the event.
The tournament wrapped up the fall season for the men's golf team.
WOMEN'S TENNIS
The Samford women's tennis squad competed in the College of Charleston Invitational last weekend. The Bulldogs won five flight championships in the event, three in doubles and two in singles.
The tournament concludes the fall schedule for the women's tennis team.
MEN'S TENNIS
The Samford men's tennis team competed in the CCB Invitational, hosted by Alabama over the weekend.
Rossouw Norval led the team, reaching the finals of his singles bracket.
The men's tennis team will wrap up its fall schedule by hosting the Samford Fall Invitational this weekend. The tournament will be held at the Pelham Racquet Club.
