GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Samford volleyball team picked up a hard-fought, 3-2 (27-25, 23-25, 25-22, 21-25, 17-15) win at Furman Saturday evening at Alley Gymnasium.

With the win, Samford improves to 19-5 overall and 13-1 in SoCon play. Furman falls to 6-19 overall and 6-8 in league matches.

KEY MOMENTS

Furman jumped out to a 16-12 lead in the first set.
Samford fought back to take a 21-20 lead.
With the score tied at 25-25, Samford scored the final two points to take the set, 27-25.
In the second set, Furman took a 14-10 lead, but Samford came back to take a 19-17 lead.
With the score tied at 23-23, Furman scored the final two points to even the match with a 25-23 set win.
In the third set, with Samford trailing, 19-14, the Bulldogs went on a 7-1 run to take a 21-20 lead.
Samford took the third set, 25-22.
Furman jumped out to a 15-7 lead in the fourth set.
Samford fought back to cut the lead to two at 22-20, but Furman won the set, 25-21.
The Bulldogs took a 6-4 lead early in the fifth set, but Furman scored the next three points to take a 7-6 lead.
After Samford tied the score at 7-7, the Paladins scored the next four points to take an 11-7 lead.
Samford answered with a 6-0 run to take a 13-11 lead.
The teams went to extra points and Samford earned the 17-15 set win and the 3-2 match victory.

Lauren Deaton tallied a career-high 32 kills. Her total was one short of the school record of 33 set by Michaela Reesor at Wofford in 2012.
Deaton also tallied 13 digs in the match.
Kelsi Hobbs had 17 kills and 15 digs.
Grace Tiesman tallied 16 kills and 17 digs.
Emily Naubert led the team in digs with 23.
Corinne Meglic had a career high 67 assists.
