LEXINGTON, Va. – The Samford baseball team secured a second-straight Southern Conference series win with a 4-0 win at VMI Saturday afternoon at Gray-Minor Stadium.
With the win, Samford improves to 19-7 overall and 5-0 in Southern Conference play. VMI falls to 5-22 overall and 1-4 in league play. Saturday's win, paired with Friday night's victory give Samford the series win with one game to go on Sunday.

- Sonny DiChiara went 2-for-5 with an RBI to lead Samford at the plate.
- Ayrton Schafer also drove in a run for Samford.
- Jesse McCord (3-1) pitched 6.0 innings, giving up no runs on two hits and striking out seven batters to earn the win for the Bulldogs.
- Will Knight, Josh Hollifield and Ryan Hatten had a hit each for VMI.
- Adam Jewell (0-4) tossed 6.2 innings, giving up four runs on nine hits to take the loss on the mound for the Keydets.
SCORING SUMMARY
- Samford jumped on top first with a run in the top of the first inning. Max Pinto singled to lead off the inning and later scored on a wild pitch for a 1-0 Samford lead.
- Samford added three runs in the top of the seventh inning to push its lead to 4-0. DiChiara singled to left field to drive in Pinto for the first run of the inning. Brooks Carlson then scored on a wild pitch. Schafer later singled to left field to drive in DiChiara for the game's final run.

Samford and VMI will conclude their series with a game Sunday. The game is scheduled for an 11 a.m. (CT) start from Lexington, Virginia.
