ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The seventh-seeded Samford women's basketball team was eliminated from the Southern Conference Tournament with a 67-52 loss to second-seeded Furman in Thursday's quarterfinal round at the U.S. Cellular Center.
Samford ends its season with a record of 10-20. Furman improves to 18-12 and will take on either Chattanooga or UNCG in Friday's semifinals.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- Samford started the game off hot, jumping out to a 14-3 lead with 5:58 to go in the first quarter after a three-pointer by Battle.
- Furman came back with a 7-0 run to cut the lead to 14-10 with 2:19 left in the opening period.
- Back-to-back three-pointers by Makaila Woolard gave Samford a 20-10 advantage at the end of the first quarter.
- Samford pushed its lead to 13 points at 25-12 with 8:30 left in the second quarter after a three-pointer by Cassidy Williams.
- Furman answered with a 14-0 run to take a 26-25 lead with 3:00 left in the second quarter.
- After Samford briefly retook the lead to 27-26, Furman scored six of the final eight points of the period to take a 32-29 lead into the locker room at halftime.
- Furman outscored Samford, 20-5 in the third quarter to push its lead to 52-34 at the end of the third period.
- Samford opened the fourth quarter with a 6-0 run to cut the lead to 12 points at 52-40 with 7:57 to go after a layup by Williams.
- The Bulldogs closed to within seven points at 56-49 with 4:21 to play after a layup by Battle.
- With Samford trailing, 59-52, Furman scored the final eight points to finish with the 67-52 victory.
