BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The baseball and softball teams both swept key Southern Conference series, and track and field had a strong showing at its home meet last week. This week, both baseball and softball are home again, and both tennis teams compete in the Southern Conference Tournament.
WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
Samford Athletics announced the hiring of
Carley Kuhns as its new head women's basketball coach last Wednesday, and she was introduced to the Samford community and to the media at a press conference Thursday.
Kuhns comes to Samford after three seasons as the head coach at her alma mater, Valdosta State. At VSU, she accumulated a record of 66-29, and she coached her teams to one Gulf South Conference Tournament title and two NCAA Tournament bids.
BASEBALL
The Samford baseball team opened the week with a 21-2 loss to Alabama at home. The Bulldogs then swept a three-game Southern Conference series from The Citadel. Samford won the games by scores of 8-4, 6-2 and 10-3. The sweep gives Samford an 8-1 SoCon record, and puts the Bulldogs in first place in the league standings.
This week, the baseball team will play at in-state rival Troy Tuesday night at 6 p.m. The Bulldogs will then host a three-game Southern Conference series with UNCG. The games are scheduled for Thursday at 6 p.m., Friday at 4 p.m. and Saturday at 1 p.m. Links to follow all of the games can be found at the link below.

SOFTBALL
The Samford softball team swept its three-game Southern Conference series with ETSU over the weekend. Samford took down the Bucs by scores of 7-5, 8-0 (6 inn.) and 10-2 (6 inn.). With the wins, Samford takes over first-place in the SoCon standings with a 9-3 record in league games.
Whitney Hinton was named the SoCon Player of the Week for her efforts in the series.
This week, the softball team will host Mercer in a key Southern Conference series. The teams are scheduled to play a doubleheader Friday at 4 p.m., and a single game Saturday at 1 p.m. For links to follow all of the games, click on the link below.

TRACK & FIELD
The Samford track and field teams hosted the Alabama Track Challenge Thursday at Friday at the Samford Track and Soccer Stadium. Samford had a strong showing, winning 14 different events at the two-day meet.
Samford will host the Southern Conference Championships, April 27-28 at the Samford Track and Soccer Stadium. Full results will be posted to

MEN'S GOLF

WOMEN'S GOLF
The women's golf team wrapped up its season at the Southern Conference Championship, Sunday through Tuesday. Samford finished sixth as a team in the event. Individually,
Madeline Davis finished sixth out of 45 individuals.
Emily Uhland tied for eighth in the event.
MEN'S TENNIS
The men's tennis team earned a pair of wins last week. The Bulldogs downed The Citadel, 6-1 in Samford's final home match of the season. The team then earned a 4-3 win at Mercer to wrap up the regular season for the Bulldogs.
