BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford baseball and softball teams both earned SoCon series wins again last weekend. This week, both teams will host midweek games, while baseball hosts a non-conference weekend series at home, while softball goes on the road to continue conference play.
BASEBALL
The Samford baseball team started the week with a 9-0 setback to cross-town rival UAB Tuesday night at Regions Field. The Bulldogs then won two-of-three games at VMI over the weekend. Samford won the first two game, 13-4 and 4-0, but fell in the series finale, 5-4.
This week, the baseball team will host UAB Tuesday night at 6 p.m., and then host North Alabama Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. The UAB game is Greek Night at Joe Lee Griffin Field, and Wednesday night's game includes free attendance. This weekend, the Bulldogs will host UT Martin in a three-game non-conference series. SOFTBALL
The Samford softball team won two-of-three games in a key Southern Conference series with Furman over the weekend. The Bulldogs swept Saturday's doubleheader by scores of 7-2 and 9-4, before dropping Sunday's game, 6-4. Designated player
Hannah Trombley was named the Southern Conference Player of the Week for her efforts in the series.
This week, the softball team will host Belmont in a non-conference game Wednesday at 5 p.m. At the game, Samford's office of Residence Life will have free food and drinks for Samford students. This weekend, the Bulldogs will play a three-game series at Western Carolina. The teams are scheduled to play a doubleheader Saturday at 12 p.m. (CT), and a single game Sunday, also at 12 p.m. (CT). TRACK & FIELD
The Samford track and field teams competed in the Raleigh Relays this weekend, hosted by North Carolina State University.
Emmanuel Tait won the 110-meter hurdles, and freshman
Titus Moore came in third in the same event.
This week, the Bulldogs will compete in the Tiger Classic, Friday and Saturday in Auburn, Ala. Full results will be posted to

MEN'S GOLF
The men's golf team took the week off from competition.
The Bulldogs will next compete in the Ryman Hospitality Intercollegiate, April 8-9 in Nashville, Tenn.
WOMEN'S GOLF
The women's golf team finished eighth at the John Kirk/Panther Intercollegiate, March 31-April 2, hosted by Georgia State University in Stockbridge, Ga.
Madeline Davis led Samford, finishing fourth in the field of 90 players.
Women's golf will be off until the Southern Conference Championships, which are scheduled for April 14-16 in Hilton Head, S.C.
MEN'S TENNIS
The men's tennis team earned a 5-2 win over UNCG Saturday afternoon at the Samford Tennis Center.
This week, the Bulldogs will host Chattanooga Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Samford Tennis Center. The team will then play at Furman Saturday at 12 p.m. (CT). A full recap and results will be posted to

WOMEN'S TENNIS
The women's tennis team dropped a pair of contests last week. The team fell, 5-2 at UNCG Saturday, and by a score of 4-3 at Western Carolina Sunday.
