BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The baseball team hosts Alabama Tuesday night, while both baseball and softball have key home SoCon series this weekend. The track and field programs will host the Alabama Track Challenge this weekend, while the tennis and golf programs are winding down their regular seasons. The highlight of the weekend, however is Saturday's Samford Athletics Hall of Fame Celebration.
HALL OF FAME
Samford Athletics will host its Hall of Fame Celebration Saturday in the Pete Hanna Center. The Samford Athletics Hall of Fame's third class will be inducted as part of the festivities that evening. The class includes the 1971 Football Team, Cameron Bean (Track & Field), John Brady (Men's Basketball), Gary Fleming (Football), Jimmy Harrison (Men's Basketball) and Emily London (Women's Basketball).
BASEBALL
The Samford baseball team played five games, all at home, last week. The Bulldogs dropped a 7-2 decision to UAB Tuesday night, but bounced back to take down North Alabama, 9-1 Wednesday evening. The team then won two-of-three games in a non-conference series with UT Martin. Samford won the first two games by scores of 14-4 and 6-3, but dropped the series finale, 3-1.
This week, the baseball team will host Alabama Tuesday night at 6 p.m. at Joe Lee Griffin Field. The team will then host The Citadel in a three-game Southern Conference series. The teams are scheduled to play Friday at 6 p.m., Saturday at 1 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m. Saturday's game will be Dollar Hot Dog Day at Joe Lee Griffin Field. SOFTBALL
The Samford softball team opened the week with a 7-6 setback to Belmont at home. The Bulldogs then traveled to Cullowhee, N.C. for a SoCon series at Western Carolina. After dropping the first game, 9-4, Samford came back to win the final two games of the series, 9-3 and 6-4.
This week, the softball squad will host the ETSU Bucs in a three-game SoCon series. The teams are scheduled to play a doubleheader Saturday at 1 p.m. and a single game Sunday, also at 1 p.m. At Saturday's game, Samford will be raising money for Alzheimer's disease research. TRACK & FIELD
The Samford track and field teams competed in the Tiger Classic, hosted by Auburn University, over the weekend. The Bulldogs turned in another strong performance in the event.

MEN'S GOLF
The men's golf team finished third out of 16 teams at the Ryman Hospitality Intercollegiate, Monday and Tuesday.
The men's golf squad will play in its final pre-SoCon tournament when the Bulldogs compete in the Auburn Invitational, April 15-16.
WOMEN'S GOLF
The women's golf team did not play this week, but the Bulldogs will compete in the Southern Conference Championship this week. The tournament is scheduled for April 14-16 in Hilton Head, S.C. To follow the tournament, click on the following link:

MEN'S TENNIS
The men's tennis team dropped a pair of Southern Conference matches last week. The Bulldogs fell to Chattanooga, 5-2, and then the team dropped a 6-1 decision at Furman.
This week, men's tennis will host The Citadel for its final home match of the season, Thursday at 3 p.m. at the Samford Tennis Center. The team will then wrap up its regular season with a match at Mercer Saturday at 10 a.m. (CT). A full recap and results will be posted to

WOMEN'S TENNIS
The women's tennis team split two matches last week. The Bulldogs fell to Furman, 7-0, before bouncing back to take a 4-3 win over Wofford in the team's final home match of the season.
