BATON ROUGE, La. –
Emily Barnett (1-0) scattered seven hits and allowed an unearned run in the circle to lead the Samford University softball team to a 3-1 victory over the University of North Dakota in the final game of LSU Classic on Sunday at Tiger Park.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Angel Love singled up the middle to plate Morgan Flann, who reached on an error, and put North Dakota up 1-0 in the top of the 1st inning.
- Samford answered in the bottom of the 1st, as Whitney Hinton scored on an error by UND's right fielder to tie the game at 1-1.
- Tomberlyn Shurbutt's RBI single to right gave the Bulldogs a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the 2nd. Two batters later, O'Neil Roberson laced a single to left, scoring Hinton to make the final margin 3-1.
IN THE CIRCLE
- Emily Barnett (1-0) allowed one unearned run while scattering seven hits in a complete game victory. The junior from Suwanee, Ga., finished the day with three walks and three strikeouts.
- UND's Lauren Field (1-2) worked just 1.2 innings, allowing three runs on three hits with a pair of walks and a strikeout. Lexi Flom tossed the final 4.1 innings surrendering six hits to the Bulldogs.
NOTABLES
- Amanda Briskin (2-for-2), Shurbutt (2-for-3) and Roberson (2-for-3) all collected multiple hits for Samford.
- Victoria Minor and Angle Love had two hits each for the Fighting Hawks.
