HOW IT HAPPENED

• The evening matchup between the Bulldogs and the Golden Hurricane was certainly a pitching duel with Abby Swaney getting the start in the circle for Samford.
• Swaney pitched a one-hit shutout through the fourth inning, before an error gave Tulsa an early baserunner in the bottom of the fifth. The single run the Golden Hurricane scored in the fifth would be the game's only run.

• Swaney (4-2) took the loss for the Bulldogs giving up one run and two hits with two walks and a strikeout.
• Chenise Delce (6-3) got the win for Tulsa giving up no runs and five hits in the nightcap.

• This was Samford's first meeting with the Golden Hurricane.
• Five Bulldogs got a hit off Delce: Maddie Dorsett, Whitney Hinton, Timberlyn Shurbutt, Merritt Cahoon and Amanda Briskin.

• Samford will be back in action in the Sunshine State tomorrow against Ball State at 2 p.m. (CT) and against the host Florida Atlantic at 4:30 p.m. (CT).
